Prognostic significance of insulin-like growth factor-II mRNA-binding protein 3 in urological cancers: a systemic review and meta-analysis
نویسندگان
چکیده
Purpose: Insulin-like growth factor II mRNA-binding protein 3 (IMP3) is an oncofetal protein expressed in diverse malignancies. This study aimed to investigate the prognostic value of IMP3 in urological cancers. Methods: Eligible studies were sought in PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Collaboration and Wanfang databases. Pooled hazard ratios (HRs) with their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to assess the prognostic value of IMP3 in patients with urological cancers. Results: Eight studies including 2,219 patients were enrolled in this meta-analysis. The pooled results showed that IMP3 expression was an indicator of poorer prognosis in patients with urological cancers in terms of overall survival (OS) (HR 2.19, 95% CI 1.35-3.55), disease-specific survival (DSS) (HR 2.10, 95% CI 1.53-2.89), disease-free survival (DFS) (HR 1.49, 95% CI 1.18-1.87) and metastasis-free survival (MFS) (HR 3.80, 95% CI 2.27-6.34). Subgroup analyses revealed that IMP3 was significantly correlated with poorer prognosis in patients with kidney cancer or urothelial cancer in terms of OS (HR 2.52; 95% CI 1.55-4.10), DSS (HR 2.11; 95% CI 1.51-2.95), DFS (HR 2.01; 95% CI 1.40-2.88) and MFS (HR 3.80; 95% CI 2.27-6.34), whereas this association was not found in patients with prostate cancer (OS, HR 1.09, 95% CI 0.45-2.63; DSS, HR 2.06, 95% CI 0.73-5.80; DFS, HR 1.20, 95% CI 0.88-1.62). Conclusions: IMP3 expression might be an indicator of poor prognosis in patients with kidney cancer or urothelial cancer. Further large prospective and welldesigned studies utilizing better IMP3 expression assessment processes, are needed to confirm these results especially in patients with prostate cancer.

Insulin-Like Growth Factor II mRNA-Binding Protein 3 Expression Correlates with Poor Prognosis in Acral Lentiginous Melanoma
Insulin-like growth factor-II mRNA-binding protein 3 (IMP-3) is an RNA-binding protein expressed in multiple cancers, including melanomas. However, the expression of IMP-3 has not been investigated in acral lentiginous melanoma (ALM). This study sought to elucidate its prognostic value in ALMs. IMP-3 expression was studied in 93 patients diagnosed with ALM via immunohistochemistry. Univariate a...

Purpose: This study investigated the effect of endurance activity on brain-derived neurotrophic factor(BDNF), insulin-like growth factor 1(IGF-1) and its binding protein 3(IGFBP-3) in elderly healthy individuals. Materials and Methods: Eleven healthy old males (mean age of 68 ± 2.31 years old, height of 177 ± 3.1 cm and weight of 79 ± 1.5 kg) were studied. Seventy two hours after maxi...
متن کاملThe Effect of 8 Weeks Resistance Training With Low Load and High Load on Testosterone, Insulin-like Growth Factor-1, Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-3 Levels, and Functional Adaptations in Older Women
Objectives The loss of muscle mass in older adults is attributed to the impaired ability of the skeletal muscle in response to anabolic stimuli and the increased activation of the proteolytic signaling pathway. With increasing age, plasma concentrations of circulating anabolic hormones and growth factors, e.g. testosterone, Insulin-like Growth Factor-1 (IGF-1) and Insulin-like Growth Factor Bin...

The genetic polymorphism of some genes related to meat production in three Egyptian sheep breeds (Barki, Rahmani and Osseimi) was studied. The candidate genes were: Calpastatin, Myostatin, Diacylglycerol-acyltransferase1, Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 and Booroola fecundity gene. The technique applied was the restriction fragment length polymorphism for the polymerase chain react...
متن کاملInsulin-like growth factor II mRNA-binding protein 3: a novel prognostic biomarker for oral squamous cell carcinoma.
BACKGROUND Oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) is caused by multiple factors, including carcinogen exposure. Insulin-like growth factor II mRNA-binding protein 3 (IMP3) is highly expressed in various cancer cells but is rarely expressed in normal cells. We investigated whether IMP3 can be used as a prognostic biomarker for OSCC. METHODS We performed immunohistochemistry and Western blotting t...
